Niacinamide is one of the popular ingredients, used in multiple skincare products, that gained fame in the last 5 years and is still renowned for its amazing properties. Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that's often found in skin care products like cleansers, serums, moisturisers, and toners.
While Niacinamide is responsible for addressing multiple skin concerns like breakouts, dryness, ageing and more, it legitimately acts as a hero when it comes to protecting our skin from tanning, dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
And why do we say so?
Our skin has a beautiful mechanism for protecting us from multiple environmental stressors. One of the important mechanisms is melanin production which prevents our skin from harmful UVA and UVB damage.
However, excessive melanin production in our cells leads to dark spots, hyperpigmentation and an uneven skin tone. To prevent this, you need just 1% Niacinamide (more than 1% is not recommended).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is how Niacinamide prevents skin darkening:
- Melanin is made of multiple melanosomes (molecular form)
- Niacinamide, due to its right molecular weight can reach to melanosomes
- It further inhibits the transfer of melanosomes to the surface of the skin
- This inhibition prevents excess production of melanin in our cells
- Therefore, preventing our skin from turning darker and additionally leaving dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

As a skincare brand we understand the importance of including niacinamide in a skincare routine and as a result, we have ensured adequate addition of Niacinamide in our Facial Cleanser as well as our Facial Serum.
Also, not just niacinamide, Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C do a similar job in treating hyperpigmentation, dark spots and uneven skin tone. So the bottom line is that you would not want to miss out on these ingredients in your skincare routine. If you use a product that has these three together, trust us, nothing like it!
